Howard T. Sawhill Park & Bandshell

Howard T. Sawhill Park & Bandshell

One of the oldest bandshells in Kansas!

The Bandshell and amphitheater, named the "Rose Bowl", seat several hundred people.  It was built in 1934 with WPA workers who used local materials salvaged from the old jail building.

Howard T. Sawhill designed and planned the bandshell and park that was later named after him.  The Bandshell has been placed on both the Kansas and Federal Historical Registries.  The City is applying for a grant to begin the restoration.

If you want to do an event at the park or in the bandshell, please contact the City of St. Francis at  785-332-3142
