The Tri-State Antique Engine and Threshers Association celebrates vintage machinery and agricultural heritage. They host annual events throughout the year that offer interactive demonstrations and educational exhibits that bring the history of farming and machinery to life.
The Tri-State Antique Engine & Thresher Show has been a part of the Bird City area since 1953. They are open to the public every Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. They put on several events throughout the year. The last Friday and Saturday in April is the Bird City Military Show. Every year they put on a full military reenactment and have living history displays. The Thresher Show is a 3-day event that always starts the last Thursday in July. There are over 400 tractors including over 17 full-size steam tractors. Other aspects of early farm life are also on display. Tour the blacksmith shop, print shop, quilt show, car museum, creamery, old country church, and sod house. The second Friday and Saturday of October is the Tri-State Mule and Draft Horse Show. An opportunity to see how farming was done when settlers first came to Kansas. See true horsepower in action.
